Oakland Raiders Point Spreads 2018

Oakland Raiders Roster

The Oakland Raiders are a professional American football team from the city of Oakland, California. They are part of the AFC West of the National Football League (NFL). They play at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum based in the city of Oakland, California.

Today, the Raiders are known for their large numbers of fans and the team's distinctive culture.5 Since 1960 the team has won fifteen division titles (three from the AFL and twelve from the NFL), four AFC championships (1976, 1980, 1983 and 2002), an AFL championship (1967) and three Super Bowls (XI, XV and XVIII).

Originally they were to be called Oakland Seniors after being named in a contest, but the name was changed to the current Raiders before beginning the season of 1960. Eddie Erdelatz was hired as the head coach, having rejected this offerings of the Washington Redskins And Los Angeles Chargers. In the Raiders' first team was the future Hall of Fame, Jim Otto, along with future coach Tom Flores.

After a bad season of 1960 to 1966, John Rauch was chosen like trainer in chief. With him, along with quarterback Daryle Lamonica, they gave the team their first league title against the Houston Oilers. However, they would lose to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl II. In the next two seasons, the Raiders returned to the division title, but this time losing in the league title game against the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs, respectively.

From Oakland to Los Angeles

After the 1980 season, Al Davis was unsuccessful in the improvements introduced at the Oakland Coliseum, specifically in the incorporation of new luxury boxes. That same year, he signed a memorandum of understanding to move the Oakland Raiders to Los Angeles. The measure, which required the approval of three-quarters of the owners of the league, was discarded 22-0. Even with the refusal of the league, Davis tried to move the team, which was blocked by a court order.

In response, the Raiders not only became an active partner in an antitrust lawsuit filed by the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (which had recently lost to the Los Angeles Rams), but also filed a lawsuit against their own. After the first case was declared void at the May 1982 trial, a second jury ruled in favor of Davis and Los Angeles Coliseum, clearing the way for the move. With the ruling, the Raiders finally moved to Los Angeles for the 1982 season, playing their home games at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

For 1995, Al Davis signed a letter with the intention of returning the equipment to Oakland, news that was approved by the municipal authorities of Alameda and received with much pleasure by the fans of Oakland.

In addition, there was an advantage in the operation, because despite 13 years, the NFL never officially recognized the change since it happened, reason why it could not refuse to approve it nor it would have to request the relocation quota that is required in these Cases - a fee that the Los Angeles Rams team would have had to pay for their move to San Luis.
